Percy the Peacock pranced around his Palace,

Percy was a beautiful, colourful bird,

And he loved eating lemon curd,

“I am so wonderful,” he sang

 As he fuffled out his tail like a fan,

 

Suddenly, ‘ slam’, ‘bang’, ‘crash’ down falls a peasant pigeon,

“Off my precious feathers”

Shrieks the peacock, “ why oh why?”

“Sorry deary, coughs the pigeon”

“Just had a spot of bother with my feather.”

“Get out of my palace” shrieks the peacock!

“Look at how plain you are”

“ Alright my love, you are so fussy, I just need

To rest my wing a while.”

“Go to the barn at the back with the other animals,

Noone can see you there”, cried the peacock.

The peacock struttered around day in day out and wondered

What was the pigeon’s life like?

She listened in to his stories about the city,

The adventures and grew curious- would I like a life like ?

She orderd the pigeon to come quick!

“ I have got a proposal, what if we swap places,

I be you and you be me!”

“Ok,” says the pigeon but you can’t prance around the city,

You’ll get awfully gritty”

Off she flew all in a stew,

When she landed all the birds were prying around,

She felt like crying,

“Oh, all is new,

I’m in a frightful stew,

My poor pigeon in my palace,

How cruel I've been....

I must fly and be his friend,

It doesn’t matter that we’re different,

In fact, it’s really quite brillant!
